Transportation 


Public Transit Services: 

Mountain Lynx Transit Services provided through District III Governmental Cooperative 

Mountain Lynx Transit provides public transportation in Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe counties, as well as the City of Galax. Fixed-route loops and demand-response routes serve Abingdon, Marion, Wytheville, and Galax. Mountain Lynx Transit provides demand-response service to areas of each country at least once per week. These weekly routes provide county residents with transportation to a commercial center. Connection between Abingdon and Bristol is available each weekday while classes are in session at VHCC.

Timely Care 24/7 Mental Health Virtual Care Services

Timely Care Services are free to all WCC students. Students can go to www.timelycare.com/vccs to register with their name and school email address. If you are struggling with mental health/emotional issues, you will be able to talk to a licensed provider via your smartphone or any web-enabled device.

Whether you're anxious or overwhelmed, you will be able to talk to a licensed provider from your smartphone or any web-enabled device. Licensed providers are available to offer mental health support via phone or secure video visits.

How can students access TimelyCare?

Students can go to timelycare.com/vccs to register with their name and school email address. Students can then have visits from any web-enabled device – smartphone, laptop, or desktop. TimelyCare is available from anywhere in the United States.

What services are available?

There are five services available:

  • TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand access to a mental health professional to talk about anything at anytime
  • Scheduled Counseling: scheduled options to speak to a licensed counselor (available starting January 3, 2022!)
  • Health Coaching: access to a nutritional specialist to help students adopt healthier lifestyle behaviors related to sleep issues, weight management and more (available starting January 3, 2022!)
  • Psychiatry: services provided by campus counseling referral (available starting January 3, 2022!)
  • Group Sessions: Weekly Guided Meditation and Yoga Group Sessions, plus specialized discussions throughout the year.

How much does a visit cost?

TimelyCare services are FREE to all Wytheville Community College students.

Bland Ministry Center

Our food ministry is an emergency assistance food distribution, managed by volunteers. The Center works with social agencies to verify needs of each client. The Pantry consists of items donated from churches, organizations, and agencies throughout the southeastern United States. The Food Pantry is open every Tuesday and Thursday unless Bland County Schools are closed due to weather. Any interested client may join the distribution line and register at the warehouse. Additional guidelines will be discussed during your first visit.

Food boxes are distributed every Tuesday and Thursday, 10am-1pm. Households may pick up one box per month and visit on the following schedule: 
 

First Tuesday or Thursday: Bland County  
Second Tuesday or Thursday: Wythe County  
Third Tuesday or Thursday: all other counties  
Fourth and Fifth Tuesdays or Thursdays: Make-Up dates
