Esteemed WCC Board Member Retires

Wytheville Community College Announces Retirement of Board Member, Dr. Oliver McBride. 

 

Wytheville Community College (WCC) announces the retirement of Dr. Oliver McBride, from the WCC College Board of Directors. Dr. McBride, a dedicated and esteemed member of the Board for two full four-year terms, was recognized at the September 2023 board meeting at the Wytheville campus. Mr. Malcolm Brown, WCC Board Chair, and Dr. Dean Sprinkle, WCC President, presented Dr. McBride with a formal retirement resolution that recognized McBride for his years of outstanding service and commitment to the college. 

 Dr. McBride holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond, and an EdD and MEd from the University of Virginia. In 2007, he retired from Carroll County Public Schools where he served as Division Superintendent. Dr. McBride served as the Executive Director of Crossroads Institute in Galax from 2007-2015. He is a current member of the WCC Community Choir. 

 Dr. Dean Sprinkle expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. McBride, saying, "Oliver McBride has been a valuable asset to our College Board. His tireless efforts directly impacted WCC student lives, and for that work, we are eternally grateful. We wish Dr. McBride a well-deserved retirement.”
