January 19th Wytheville Concert Series Performance Postponed Due to the extreme cold. New date January 26, 2024.
Originally set for January 19, 2024, The Wytheville Concert Series has postponed the Dvorak and Faure concert until Friday, January 26, at 7 p.m., at Wytheville Presbyterian Church.
Lighten the dark days of winter with a chamber music concert by violinist Kevin Matheson, cellist Julia Goudimova, and pianist Judy Clark on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Wytheville Presbyterian Church located at 285 Church Street, Wytheville, Virginia. The program opens with Gabriel Faure’s lyrical and flowing Piano Trio in D Minor, Opus 120. Faure completed this trio in 1923, and it embodies the soulful character of late romantic music. Antonin Dvorak’s Piano Trio No. 2 in G Minor, Op. 26 features beautiful melodies as well as folk idioms foreshadowing his later Slavonic Dances.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to support the Wytheville Concert Series and the Wytheville Community College Food Bank. Wytheville Concert Series performances are presented by Wytheville Community College, St. Paul United Methodist Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Wytheville Presbyterian Church, the WCC Educational Foundation, and MacDowell Music Club, and are under the artistic direction of Kevin Matheson.
