The F.B. Kegley Library at Wytheville Community College, the region’s premier genealogical and historical archive, has gone into “hibernation” until the spring of 2026.

The exact date of the library’s reopening has not been determined and is dependent on the progress of campus renovation projects. The library’s collection is being boxed and stored in preparation for a move to a larger facility on campus. The Kegley’s archivist will remain on staff during this period and will be available for assistance by appointment and also via telephone and email. The new facility will be located in a renovated suite on the lower floor of Bland Hall. The new location will include space where the Kegley was originally housed for much of its early existence. The new suite will provide a larger reading room and research area, including an expanded archival storage room for future manuscript and records acquisitions. The new special collections room, like the current archives, will be temperature and humidity controlled in order to preserve the Kegley’s records for generations to come. Patrons are advised to contact the archivist via email at bveselik@wcc.vccs.edu or via telephone at 276-223-4876 for assistance with their research projects. Patrons may also call for appointments on Tuesdays through Fridays. The F.B. Kegley Library was established in 1968 and is home to a collection of about 5,000 books, 8,000 photographs, and 250 manuscripts.
