Wytheville Community College (WCC) celebrated the graduation of its latest cohort of Heavy Equipment Operators Program on December 10, 2024.
The ceremony, held at the Crossroads Institute in Galax, recognized the students who have completed their training in the operation and safety of heavy machinery. The program, designed to equip individuals with the skills necessary to succeed in construction and industries, has been an essential part of the college's commitment to workforce development. WCC Vice President of Workforce Development and Occupational Programs, Perry Hughes, addressed the graduates with a message of encouragement. "Today, you show your families and fellow classmates your dedication to mastering the skills that will open doors to new career opportunities in one of the most vital jobs in our region. You are not just learning to operate heavy machinery—you are learning to be part of the infrastructure that keeps our industries alive.”
