Wytheville Community College (WCC) recently selected Linda Nye as WCC’s 2024 Support Staff Emeritus. The recognition honors retired support staff personnel who served WCC for a minimum of ten years and whose performance and contributions were meritorious. 

Mrs. Nye was a dedicated WCC employee and a devoted member of the WCC support staff from September 16, 1972, until her retirement July 1, 2015. She served in the support staff role at WCC as Human Resource Manager I for the Human Resources Office. Additionally, Mrs. Nye was honored by the Virginia Community Colleges Association in 1987 in their Showcase of Support Staff. In 2004, Mrs. Nye received the WCC Support Staff of the Year award in recognition of her exemplary work and contributions to WCC. 

A graduate of Wytheville Community College, Nye earned an Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science in 1971. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Radford University in 1990. 

Dr. Dean Sprinkle, WCC President, presented Mrs. Nye with the award, saying, “Linda Nye’s commitment to WCC is admired as she served the college exceptionally well and worked to promote a positive, collaborative work environment. She diligently supported college initiatives and provided outstanding customer service to the college administration, faculty, staff, and students with a willing and helpful attitude.” In addition, Mrs. Nye contributed to the college by serving on key standing committees, including the Affirmative Action Committee, Policies and Procedures Committee, and Threat Assessment and Violence Prevention Committee.
