WCC Hosts Bluegrass and Old-Time Jamboree on August 17

Wytheville Community College is pleased to present the Bluegrass and Old-Time Jamboree on August 17, 2024, from 7 – 9 p.m.

This month the Jamboree will feature New River Line, a bluegrass band, and the Leftover Biscuits, an old-time band. The Jamboree will be held in Grayson Hall in the William F. Snyder Auditorium.

New River Line, based in Carroll County, Virginia, is an up-and-coming bluegrass band making paths for bluegrass in and around Southwest Virginia and North Carolina. They recently placed fourteenth at the 2024 Galax Fiddler’s Convention.

Cleverly titled, the group Leftover Biscuits was formed in August 2021, provides old-time string music from the Appalachian mountains, and is comprised of members who are deeply rooted in the traditions of Appalachian music. The music begins at 7 p.m., and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to help defray the travel expenses of the bands. The WCC Jamboree is organized by David Chrisley and is an affiliated venue of The Crooked Road.
