WCC to Ink New Technical Students

Wytheville Community College (WCC) is holding their second National Signing Day for technical students.

Together with dozens of other NC3 Leadership Schools across the country, Wytheville Community College (WCC) is holding NC3 National Letter of Intent Signing Day on April 18, 2024. New students for the 2024-25 school year will take part in a signing ceremony, similar to an athletic signing. This national event sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to celebrate the dignity of work.

Dozens of technical institutions across the country will be hosting signing day ceremonies tied together by live, nationwide simulcasts. “By signing our incoming students to Letters of Intent, we’re telling them that we’ve reserved a place for them, and we want them. Technical education will prepare them for a strong career,” said Roland Hall, WCC Dean of Workforce Development and Occupational Programs. “Industry leaders are excited about this opportunity because it validates the student and provides an opportunity for industry representatives to meet these future workers.”

Wytheville Community College (WCC) has been delivering in-demand higher education programs and workforce skills training to the Southwest Virginia communities of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth (Marion and Eastward), and Wythe counties, the city of Galax and beyond since 1963. Today, WCC is the leading choice for students who are looking for the highest quality college education, close to home, and at the greatest value. WCC is also the workforce training partner of choice for employers in Southwest Virginia and beyond.

NC3 was established to help build a workforce prepared to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s industries by connecting employers and educational institutions in synergistic partnerships that foster effective training, elevation of skilled careers, and employment opportunities. In fulfilling its mission, NC3 builds deep industry-educational partnerships and develops, implements and sustains industry-recognized portable certifications built on national skills standards. We envision an industrial labor market where all workers have jobs they need to thrive and all companies have well-trained employees they need to operate and grow. Learn more at www.nc3.net.
