Wytheville Community College (WCC) recently awarded Mr. Joe McKnight with the 2022 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year Award. McKnight has been an adjunct faculty member and laboratory assistant in the Machine Technology Program at WCC since 2009. He was nominated for his extraordinary commitment to student success. He has a true passion for helping students, both in the classroom and in the lab setting.

He regularly works after scheduled class times to help students and other instructors in the machine shop. McKnight is a dedicated instructor and an active community member. Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year Award recognizes adjunct faculty who have made notable contributions to the improvement of instruction while working as an adjunct faculty member. Nominees must be in at least their second semester of teaching credit courses at the time of nomination and must have taught an accumulated six credits at the college to include the second semester of teaching. Selections are based on student evaluations; special contributions of time, effort, and creativity to student learning; exemplary human relations skills; community involvement; and participation in professional development activities. Recipients of the award receive a monetary award and plaque.
