The Wytheville Community College Educational Foundation will celebrate WCC's alumni and friends of the college on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The event is open to all WCC alumni and friends of the college—with an emphasis on those from Carroll County. Recent high school graduates and future WCC students are also invited to attend. The picnic will be held at the Carter Pines Picnic Shelter in Hillsville, Va., adjacent to the Carroll County Wellness Center near the Route 58-Route 221 intersection.

This year’s picnic will include a free picnic meal, musical entertainment, and door prizes. New River Line Band will perform traditional American music with an emphasis on Old Time and Bluegrass tunes.

Dr. Dean Sprinkle, WCC president, will be on-site to welcome guests and provide an update on the college. Other college administrators, faculty, staff, and college board members will also be in attendance. “WCC and its alumni make major contributions to Carroll County – far more than most people realize,” said Mava Vass, who organized the first picnic in 2009. Vass represents Carroll County on WCC’s Educational Foundation board and is a former WCC board chair. The annual picnic helps Carroll County alumni and other WCC graduates strengthen their ties to the college, the community, and each other. WCC serves Bland, Carroll, Grayson, and
Wythe Counties, the City of Galax, and part of Smyth County.
