JPSA Transfer Station Open Saturdays for Storm Waste Disposal WYTHE COUNTY, Va.-

The Joint Public Service Authority (JPSA) Transfer Station will open every Saturday throughout October to assist residents in Wythe and Bland counties with the disposal of storm-related debris and waste following Tropical Storm Helene.

JPSA Storm Cleanup flier

The station, located at 169 Kents Lane, will operate from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on October 5, 12, 19, and 26.

This temporary Saturday schedule is aimed at providing residents with an opportunity to clear their properties of storm damage and dispose of materials such as storm-damaged household debris and waste, fallen tree branches, and other storm-related waste. To accommodate the expected increase in traffic and volume of waste, residents are encouraged to limit their disposal to only storm debris and damaged items. Items that can be disposed of include vegetative debris, such as trees and branches, as well as storm-damaged household items (furniture, carpet, flooring, etc.).

Hazardous materials and commercial waste will not be accepted. "We understand the challenges that Tropical Storm Helene has brought to our community, and we want to ensure residents have plenty of opportunities to safely and responsibly dispose of storm-related waste," said Billy Bowers, Operations Manager of the JPSA. "Opening the Transfer Station on Saturdays throughout October with no fees will help expedite the cleanup process for affected residents of Wythe and Bland."

For more information about acceptable materials and the Transfer Station, contact Transfer Station staff by calling 276-228-4907.
