Wytheville Community College (WCC) recently honored two instructors for their contributions to the College. WCC is pleased to announce the recognition of both Julie Jackson-King, Associate Professor and Program Head of Physical Therapy Assisting, and Karla Yates, Associate Professor and Program Head of Nursing, as recipients of the 2025 Improvement of Instruction Award.

The Improvement of Instruction Award was established to recognize notable contributions to the improvement of instruction at Wytheville Community College by full-time employees who hold faculty rank or who work as an instructional assistant. An endowment created by Dr. and Mrs. Len O'Hara funds the award. Dr. O'Hara served as Dean of Instruction at WCC in the 1980s. Dr. Dean Sprinkle, WCC President, gave the professors their awards, stating: “Congratulations, and a tremendous thank you to Julie Jackson-King and Karla Yates for your support of our students, college, and community.”
